total barf
It's always perplexing to me when I see a logo this bad being used for such a high level cultural event. Didn't someone along the way (and before the $800,000 cheque was written) say, "wow... this a career ending identity... maybe we should take another approach". Draw your own conclusions, but I personally think it's way too dated, didn't even see "2012" right away, and think the word "london" will be basically invisible in most applications. I have to ask... what the grissle???

This is suicide worthy.
Does the world not care about design at all? Was the person in charge of this budget actually blind? I don't even know where to start.
Here are some comments from London 2012 organising committee chairman Seb Coe, taken from a BBC interview:
"It's not a logo, it's a brand that will take us forward for the next five years," he told BBC. "It won't be to be eveybody's taste immediately but it's a brand that we genuinely believe can be a hard working brand..."
And more from Tony Blair:
"When people see the new brand, we want them to be inspired to make a positive change in their life."
An unrelated quote by Stefan Sagmeister:
"Branding is dead"
it gets better... the animated version of the logo is causing seizures...
